UFC on FOX 4 turned out one of the best main cards in the recent history of the promotion. All four fights ended with decisive finishes, and three of them were absolute wars. But there are only a few nightly bonus awards to hand out, and Joe Lauzon took two of the big ones.
The Massachusetts-based lightweight who is known for his swarming, exciting style, took both the Submission of the Night and the Fight of the Night, earning himself $100,000 in the process.
Lauzon fought Jamie Varner, and the two threw down in a back-and-forth battle that saw both men in trouble at various times.
Finally, in the third, Lauzon used an impressive sweep on a takedown to set up a triangle, and eventually got Varner to tap out. Though Varner lost, he'll have $50,000 to soothe his pain for Fight of the Night as well.
The Knockout of the Night award went to the returning Mike Swick, who earned an emotional win in his first fight back after 30 months.
Swick KO'd DeMarques Johnson in the second round, taking Johnson down and following him with a booming right hand. His finish was also worth $50,000.
