There is little substitute for quality experience, a fact that Brian Ebersole provided evidence for in his UFC on FX 4 match with T.J. Waldburger. After struggling through the first five minutes of their main card matchup, it was Ebersole who made the necessary adjustments to emerge victorious.
In a grappling-heavy fight, Ebersole was able to grind out the final two rounds against the submission specialist en route to a unanimous decision victory by 29-28, 29-28, 29-28 scores.
It was the 11th straight win for Ebersole, but it didn't come without adversity.
Waldburger nearly finished the fight in short order. About one minute into the first, Waldburger dropped Ebersole with a short left hand, then pounced on the ground, where he does his best work. He worked a D'arce, but the veteran Ebersole was able to snake his way out of it.
The performance was enough to win the round for Waldburger, meaning Ebersole needed to win the final two or earn a finish to keep his streak intact.
He scored takedowns in each of the final rounds, fought off multiple submission attempts by the active Waldburger, and landed hard punches and elbows when opportunities opened up.
Ebersole's victory was the 50th of his pro career, as he improved to 50-14-1 with 1 no contest.
Waldburger saw his two-fight win streak snapped, as the loss dropped him to 15-7.
