Ultimate Fighter Live Blog: Justin Lawrence vs. John Cofer

This is the Ultimate Fighter live blog for Justin Lawrence vs. John Cofer, a lightweight bout on tonight's UFC event from the Palms in Las Vegas.

Lawrence and Cofer are both making their UFC debuts and their fight will be on the main card.

Round 1: Herb Dean is the third man in on this lightweight fight. Lawrence comes out with a kick to Cofer's midsection, they hit the ground in Lawrence's guard. They get back to their feet, this time Cofer with a kick which Lawrence catches as they go to the ground. Back up again, 90 seconds in. Both guys go for a variety of strikes, but neither lands much of note. Cofer throws a combo, Lawrence answers in kind and adds in a high kick which misses. Still standing, nothing sustained from either guy. Lawrence registers with a left hook. MMAFighting scores the round for Justin Lawrence, 10-9.

Round 2: Cofer, a wrestler, is not going for takedowns. Lawrence has an answer every time Cofer tries to find his range. Lawrence crisp with his combos. Lawrence showing superior footwork and is doing a nice job mixing up his strikes. Two minutes left. Lawrence tags Cofer with a pair of quick lefts. Cofer finally gets in close and scores a knee from the clinch, but Lawrence shakes it off. One minute left. Cofer picks up Lawrence and suplexes him. Cofer tries to get a submission, but Lawrence escapes. Lawrence ends up in Cofer's guard to end the round. MMAFighting scores the round for Justin Lawrence, 10-9 (20-18 overall).

Round 3: Just as soon as we start, we're done. Lawrence drills Cofer with a bulls-eye of a head kick which lands square on the jaw to end the fight.
