TUF Live Blog: Cruickshank vs. Tickle, Jury vs. Saunders, More

This is the TUF Live undercard live blog for the Ellenberger vs. Kampmann event from the Palms in Las Vegas.

There will be five fights on the undercard. Daron Cruickshank vs. Chris Tickle, Myles Jury vs. Chris Saunders, Cristiano Marcello vs. Sam Sicilia, Jeremy Larsen vs. Joe Proctor, and John Albert vs. Erik Perez will be featured on the prelims.

John Albert vs. Erik Perez

Round 1: A bantamweight bout gets the card under way. Kim Winslow is your referee. Albert clinches Perez along the fence and lands a couple knees to the midsection. They stand and trade in center cage for awhile, but Albert pushes him back against the fence and goes for a single-leg. Albert mounts a standing Perez's back and tries for a choke, but ends up on the ground. Albert works Perez into a triangle choke. Albert keeps the choke applied for a long period of time, but can't get it in deep enough to finish him. Perez lands several punches from the top. Twice Albert grabs the fence and is twice warned. Perez finally gets out and gets Albert into an arm bar in the final minute. Winslow stops the fight, despite there being no obvious tap from Howard. It is ruled a verbal submission.

Erik Perez def. John Albert via verbal submission (armbar) at 4:18 of round one.

Jeremy Larsen vs. Joe Proctor

Round 1: Lightweight fight on tap. Herb Dean is the third man in the cage. Mostly a feeling-out process in the opening minute. Larsen rushes in throwing swinging wildly. Proctor grabs him in a Muay Thai clinch and connects on a hellacious knee. Proctor lands several hammer fists to the downed Larsen and Dean steps in and waves the fight off. Proctor tries to get up and protest and wobbles and falls backwards as he does it.

Cristiano Marcello vs. Sam Sicilia

Round 1: Second straight lightweight bout. Chris Tognoni is the referee. Mostly Sicilia charging and Marcello backpedalling in the opening minute. Marcello with an overhand right, Sicilia tags him with one of his own in response. Sicilia with a right to the body and whiffs on a big left. Halfway through. Marcello falls backwards avoiding a Sicilia right, but Sicilia won't engage him on the ground. Marcello avoids a shot and lands a nice counter combo. Sicilia connects on a left and fans on a big right. scores the round for Sam Sicilia, 10-9.

Round 2: Marcello lands a body kick, a flurry of punches, putting Sicilia on the run. Marcello tries a single leg but can't take him down. Marcello again lands a combo. Both guys drop their hands low midway through the round. Sicilia lands a huge left hook on the jaw. Marcello back along the fence, Sicilia lands a knee which drops Marcelo. Several uncontested Sicilia right hands later, Tognoni steps in and stops the fight.

Myles Jury vs. Chris Saunders

Round 1: Kim Winslow is the referee for this 155-pound bout. Opening minute sees both fighters trying to find their range with their kicks, Saunders mainly going low and Jury high. More of the same in the second minute. Timeout midway through as Jury catches an accidental eye poke. Fight re-starts. Jury lands a combo, an overhand right, and a push kick. Jury goes for a flying knee, Saunders catches him, and they end up on the ground with Jury getting a guillotine on Saunders. One minute left. Saunders taps. Jury improves to 10-0, all finishes.

Daron Cruickshank vs. Chris Tickle

Round 1: Steve Mazzagatti is the ref for the final undercard bout. Tickle gets Cruickshank into a guillotine from the get-go, but can't get a tap as Cruickshank escapes. Cruickshank in Tickle's guard a minute in. Cruickshank tries to get separation, eventually gets to his feet. They stand, clinch, and Cruickshank scores a trip. Trickle upkicks Cruickshank, who had his knees on the ground. Mazzagatti docks Cruickshank a point for the infraction. They restart, Tickle backs Cruickshank into the fence and grabs his leg. Cruickshank again counters with a trip and after being tied up for awhile, he lands a few elbows. One minute left, round ends with Cruickshank in Tickle's guard. MMAFighting scores the round for Daron Cruickshank, 10-8.

Round 2: Early flurry by Tickle once again ends up with Tickle going for a submission on the ground. Cruickshank escapes, and again ends up in Tickle's guard. Mazzagatti restarts them 2:20. Cruickshank lands a kick, Tickle taunts his opponent and lands a big right which drops him. Tickle in Cruickshank's guard, but isn't doing much with it. One minute left. Tickle tries for a guillotine but can't get the positioning right. MMAFighting scores the round for Chris Tickle, 10-9 (19-18 Cruickshank overall).

Round 3: Tickle with a sense of urgency in the early going. Tickle gets a takedown after a bit of a struggle and works into side control. Cruickshank gets up, Tickle tries to mount his back, but Cruickshank tosses him to the mat and ends up in Tickle's guard. Not much happens. Two minutes left and they're back on their feet, but go right back to the ground. Cruickshank briefly gets mount position. Cruickshank tries to work for a choke in the final minute. We go to the judges. MMAFighting scores the round for Cruickshank, 10-9 (29-27 overall).

Daron Cruickshank def. Chris Tickle via unanimous decision (29-27, 29-27, 29-27).
