Fresh off his latest win, Sergei Kharitonov already has his next booking.
MMA Fighting confirmed with officials that Kharitonov (30-7, 2 NC) will fight Linton Vassell (19-8, 1 NC) in the heavyweight main event of Bellator 234, which takes place at Menora Mivtachim Arena in Tel Aviv, Israel, on Nov. 14.
The news was first announced by Bellator welterweight Haim Gozali via Instagram:
Kharitonov headlined Bellator 225 on Aug. 24, picking up a TKO win over Matt Mitrione in a rematch after their first meeting earlier this year ended in a 15-second no contest due to Mitrione landing an accidental groin strike. Currently, the 39-year-old Kharitonov is on a six-fight win streak (excluding a pair of no contests).
A two-time Bellator light heavyweight title challenger, Vassell is winless in his last three outings. Vassell, 36, fell short in his heavyweight debut this past March, losing a unanimous decision to Valentin Moldavsky.
Also confirmed for Bellator 234 were a lightweight co-main event between veteran Roger Huerta (24-11-1, 1 NC) and Sidney Outlaw (13-3) and a featherweight bout between recent title challenger Olga Rubin (6-1), who grew up in Israel, and Ireland’s Sinead Kavanagh (5-4).
