UFC announces UFC 224 in Rio de Janeiro, UFC 225 in Chicago

Guilherme Cruz, MMA Fighting

The Octagon is visiting some familiar stomping grounds, and also making some history, this spring.

During Saturday’s UFC Belem broadcast, a pair of pay-per-view dates were announced. UFC 224 will take place at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro on May 12, while UFC 225 is booked for the United Center in Chicago on June 9.

Combate was first to report the UFC 224 date.

This will be the first PPV in Chicago after five previous visits. The UFC last held a show in the Windy City in July 2016, a UFC on FOX show headlined by Holly Holm and Valentina Shevchenko.

Rio de Janeiro has been the site of eight UFC events, including seven PPVs. Most recently, the Jeunesse Center played host to UFC 212 last June, which featured Max Holloway defeating Jose Aldo to become the undisputed UFC featherweight champion.

No bouts were announced for either show.

Guess we know when Punks next fight is

Home Town CM Punk will be huge crowd support…. actually, this will be massive – More than Miocic in Cleveland if they decide CM Punk is worth a PPV Sport

While this is what I think will happen, I don’t believe it should as Punk should fight pre-show on a Fight Night if anything

UFC 224:

Cyborg vs Nunes
Jacare vs Weidman
Aldo vs Elkins
Shogun vs Glover
Maia vs Usman

UFC 225:

Woodley vs RDA
Max vs Frankie
Zombie vs Cub
Punk vs ???
Bektic vs Kattar

UFC 226:

Stipe vs DC
TJ vs DJ
Cain vs Reem

So when is dana gonna fulfill his promise about coming back to Calgary to make up for the shittiest card ever?...
