Maurice Smith

A UFC, Pride, Pancrase, and Strikeforce vet who started competing in MMA in 1993, Smith was already a veteran kickboxer before entering into MMA. He is credited as one of the first fighters to take cardio conditioning into consideration in MMA and as such became one of MMA's first successful pure strikers. He won the UFC heavyweight title from Mark Coleman at UFC 14 and defended the belt once against Tank Abbott. He was dethroned later that same year by Randy Couture.
