Cruz had flurries and rushed towards Vera throughout the fight. Cruz was successfully engaging in the pocket with hooks and uppercuts landing in bunches while being able to successfully back out and reset. Out-striking the Ecuadorian star 100-63 in total strikes.

Vera would land and land with conviction when he had the chance. It seemed that when Vera could finally get his hands on Cruz and counter his strange striking approach, he would land a knockdown, scoring 3 knockdowns in the fight to go along with the stellar finish.

Vera showed his patience and ability to stick to the game plan and keeping composure and trusting his show-stopping power.
