UFC Vegas 36: Pros react to Khalil Rountree’s grisly knee-shredding TKO of Modestas Bukauskas

Modestas Bukauskas may be dealing with the consequences of his UFC Vegas 36 fight against Khalil Rountree Jr. for longer than he’d hoped.

Bukauskas suffered a grisly second-round TKO loss after Rountree injured Bukauskas’ left knee with an oblique kick that left the 27-year-old prospect collapsed in a heap on the octagon floor. The brutal nature of Rountree’s win — and the controversial strike that caused it — prompted a flood of opinions from fighters within the martial arts world, many of whom questioned whether the oblique kick should be a legal strike in MMA.
