Kayla Harrison’s hunt for another PFL championship will close out the league’s 2021 season.
The official lineup was released Monday for the PFL World Championship event on Oct. 27, which takes place at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. In the main event, Harrison (11-0)—No. 10 in MMA Fighting’s Pound-for-Pound Rankings—fights Taylor Guardado (3-1) for the lightweight crown and a $1,000,000 prize.
Five other league championships will also be decided at the show, with a welterweight final between past winners Magomed Magomedkerimov (29-5) and Ray Cooper III (23-7-1) serving as the co-main event. Magomedkerimov defeated Cooper in the 2018 league finals to claim the inaugural welterweight title. The next season Cooper claimed the 2019 title, though he did not get the chance to rematch his rival as an injury forced Magomedkerimov out of the playoffs.
All finals winners will receive a $1,000,000 prize in addition to a league title.
Also on the main card, boxing superstar Claressa Shields makes her second MMA appearance after defeating Brittney Elkin in her PFL debut this past June. Shields fights Abigail Montes (2-0), who has previously comped for iKon Fighting Federation and Combate.
