Tito Ortiz had been saying all along it would a tough drop down to 195 pounds and in the end he couldn’t cut it.
At the official weigh-ins for Saturday’s Triller Fight Club “Legends 2” event, Ortiz weighed in at 200 pounds, five pounds over the agreed limit for his boxing bout with fellow UFC legend Anderson Silva. Silva successfully hit the mark at 192.6 pounds.
MMA Fighting spoke to Silva shortly after the weigh-ins and he said his bout with Ortiz will proceed as scheduled. Ortiz will forfeit 20 percent of his purse to Silva as a penalty. Globo was first to report the purse penalty.
Headliners Evander Holyfield and Vitor Belfort had no issues stepping to the scale in the heavyweight range, with Holyfield weighing in at 225.4 pounds and Belfort at 206.2 pounds.
