Maycee Barber will look to close out 2021 with another victory.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a bout between Barber and Montana De La Rosa is being targeted for UFC 269. The event is scheduled to take place Dec. 11 at a location and venue yet to be announced. De La Rosa told MMA Junkie about the matchup on Instagram on Wednesday morning.
Barber snapped a two-fight losing streak in July at UFC Vegas 32 with a controversial split decision win over Miranda Maverick. After winning her first eight fights, “The Future” dropped a unanimous decision to Roxanne Modafferi at UFC 246 while suffering a torn ACL early in the bout. The 23-year-old returned to action 13 months later at February’s UFC 258 event where she was defeated by Alexa Grasso.
De La Rosa is coming off of an impressive performance in her most recent bout, picking up her first stoppage via strikes of her octagon career against Ariane Lipski in June at UFC Vegas 28. The 26-year-old will also be making her third appearance of 2021, which also includes fighting Mayra Bueno Silva to a majority draw at UFC Vegas 20 in February.
