The fight serves as a rematch of a 2015 meeting at UFC 188 that Torres won by unanimous decision. The strawweights went on to become mainstays of the 115-pound division, with Torres earning a 6-5 record opposite Hill’s active 11-8 ledger. Both have had ups and downs in the division, but the rematch comes at a time when they are neck-and-neck in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings, with Torres coming in at No. 10, one above Hill, who’s tied at No. 11 with Nina Nunes.
The two were set to rematch at UFC 256, but a positive COVID-19 test forced Hill to withdraw. She returned to the cage in March at UFC Vegas 21, earning a second win over Ashley Yoder via unanimous decision. Torres, meanwhile, hasn’t fought since electing to take on short-notice replacement Sam Hughes at UFC 256 and earning a first-round TKO stoppage.
