Two of the most exciting welterweights on the UFC roster are set to battle on Oct. 2 as Alex Oliveira and Niko Price meet inside the octagon in Las Vegas, MMA Fighting has confirmed following a report from MMA Junkie.
The event is scheduled to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas and feature Thiago Santos vs. Johnny Walker in a five-round main event.
Oliveira (22-10-1, 2 no-contests) has his back against the wall following consecutive submission defeats to Shavkat Rakhmonov and Randy Brown, which dropped his overall UFC record to 11-8 with one no contest.
“Cowboy,” who has beaten the likes of Carlos Condit, Will Brooks, Tim Means, Max Griffin and Ryan LaFlare under the UFC banner and pocketed six post-fight bonuses along the way, has only won two of his past seven octagon appearances dating back to 2018.
Price (14-5, 2 no contest) enters the cage on a three-fight winless skid versus Vicente Luque, Donald Cerrone and Michel Pereira. “The Hybrid,” who signed a new four-fight deal with the company, has won four “Performance of the Night” bonuses since joining the UFC.
