Despite accepting a fight against Sean O’Malley on short notice, Kris Moutinho still showed a ton of heart and endurance in his UFC debut but ultimately still came away on the wrong end of a TKO loss back in July.
Now Moutinho will seek to get his first win inside the octagon when he returns on Oct. 23 to face Aaron Phillips at the upcoming UFC Fight Night card headlined by middleweights Paulo Costa and Marvin Vettori. News of the fight was first reported by MMA Junkie.
While Moutinho didn’t get a win in his first UFC appearance, he certainly gained a lot of fans for his gutsy performance where he absorbed a ridiculous amount of damage over the course of the fight before O’Malley finally put him away late in the third round.
Moutinho will look to bounce back when he returns in October against Phillips, who is coming off a second-round submission loss to Jack Shore in his lone fight in the UFC thus far.
Prior to that setback, Phillips had rattled off five straight wins to earn his spot on the UFC roster and he’ll seek to get a win over Moutinho after his last fight took place in July 2020.
