Full fight card announced for RIZIN 30, featuring bantamweight grand prix

RIZIN has revealed the promotion’s September fight card, which will feature the quarterfinals of the bantamweight grand prix.

RIZIN 30 will take place Sept. 19 in front of a limited capacity crowd at the historic Saitama Super Arena in Japan, although that could change if things turn around in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic protocols.

As the promotion announced in Eight bantamweights will begin their quest towards promotional supremacy as the latest grand prix tournament will kick off.

RIZIN also announced additional bouts for the card, including UFC veterans Ulka Sasaki and Yoshinori Horie squaring off in a featherweight matchup, while Olympic silver medalist Shinobu Ota will face Yuta Kobo, a former K-1 champion who will make his MMA debut.

Other announced bouts include Koji Takeda facing Yusuke Yachi, and Shoji Maruyama squaring off with Chihiro Suzuki.

Former RIZIN bantamweight champion Kai Asakura will return to action after winning his opening round bout with a first-round TKO as he seeks to eventually get back to another title shot. His next challenge will come against Alan Yoshihiro Yamaniha, who earned a unanimous decision over Kazuma Kuramoto to advance into the quarterfinal round of bantamweight grand prix.

UFC veteran Naoki Inoue will look to build on his current five-fight win streak when he returns to action following an impressive soccer kick finish in his last appearance at RIZIN 28. This time around, Yuto Hokamura will challenge Inoue after he dispatched Kuya Ito in his first bout in the bantamweight grand prix.

The final two grand prix bouts will feature former “The Ultimate Fighter” competitor Hiromasa Ogikubo taking on Tekeshi Kasugai while Yuki Motoya clashes with Kenta Takizawa.
