Fedor Emelianenko needs an opponent for his homecoming fight in Russia on Oct. 23 and an old foe has volunteered to accept the challenge.
After pulling off one of the biggest upsets in MMA history against Emelianenko in their first meeting in June 2010, former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum is looking to do it all over again in a rematch.
Werdum, who most recently competed in the PFL, has called for the fight against Emelianenko as Bellator MMA searches for an opponent to face “The Last Emperor” at the upcoming card scheduled to take place Moscow.
In an attempt to land the fight, Werdum addressed Bellator President Scott Coker directly on social media before highlighting his previous win over Emelianenko.
“Give me your boy, I will finish him one more time,” Werdum wrote in a message addressed to Coker. “If Fedor [is] the GOAT, do you need revenge from me? Hey I’m ready to go to Russia.
“Fedor was never the GOAT because I killed the GOAT. Scott Coker, let’s go.”

In their previous meeting under the Strikeforce banner, Werdum pulled off a stunning first-round triangle choke submission to finish Emelianenko. That fight served as the Russian’s first loss in more than nine years and 28 fights, which included a reign as the PRIDE heavyweight champion.
Coming off of a win over Quinton “Rampage” Jackson in his most recent outing in 2019, the 44-year-old Emelianenko seeks to add another victory to his legendary resume, but Werdum obviously has other ideas.
