Patricio Pitbull and A.J. McKee are set to be the top earners at Bellator 263 on Saturday night. The winner of their Bellator featherweight grand prix bout also stands to take home a heck of a win bonus.
Freire will take home a base salary of $250,000 to defend his featherweight belt against A.J. McKee, who will earn $150,000. The win bonus for the fight, as disclosed by the California State Athletic Commission, is a $1 million payout offered to the winner of the 16-man tournament.
Bellator 263 takes place Saturday at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. The event’s main card airs live on Showtime following prelims on MMA Fighting. Disclosed salaries were released by the CSAC, which serves as the regulator for the event.
Pitbull and McKee successfully weighed in for the title fight on Friday in Los Angeles. McKee was two-tenths of a pound over and needed a second try to make the championship 145 pounds. The two nearly came to blows at the official press conference on Thursday after trash talk got personal.
A complete list of the Bellator 263 contracted salaries can be seen below. As always, these figures do not represent a fighter’s total earnings, as certain sponsorship incomes and discretionary post-fight bonuses are not publicly disclosed.
