Coming off a statement win over Paige VanZant back in February, Britain Hart had a grudge to settle in her fight against Jenny Savage at BKFC 19.
Needless to say, Hart got the job done as she absolutely overwhelmed Savage with a punishing series of punches in the third round that forced the referee to stop the contest before any further damage was dished out. The end came at 1:55 in the third round with Hart winning her second straight fight while moving one step closer towards a potential title shot.
“I’m feeling good,” Hart said afterwards. “I told her this fight tonight was just to prove I was the better fighter.”
Knowing that Savage was waiting for her to attack in order to close the distance as the shorter fighter, Hart was smart to wait for the best possible openings before flurrying with her punches. While there wasn’t a ton of action in the opening round, Hart managed to surge ahead with a rapid-fire series of shots that had Savage locking up in the clinch as the fighters jockeyed for position against the ropes.
As time passed it appeared Hart wasn’t fearing reprisal from Savage, which allowed her to start throwing with more speed and power in the exchanges. Hart was landing with solid uppercuts and punches to the body as well but Savage was still firing back from inside the clinch.
At the end of the second round, Hart walked to her corner with massive swelling over her right eye, which seemed to up the urgency shown while trying to put Savage away.
Hart was coming after Savage with everything in her arsenal as she was determined to stop the fight before the bell sounded again. With Savage trapped on the ropes, Hart just unleashed a furious series of punches both to the body and to the head and the referee was keeping a close eye as the action continued.
Finally with Savage doing nothing more than covering up and trying to survive as Hart continued to fire away with punches, the fight was stopped with just seconds remaining in he round.
Prior to her fight on Friday, Hart was already riding high after marrying BKFC heavyweight champion Joey Beltran and now she has even more reason to celebrate following a dominant performance against Savage.
