Miesha Tate is one step closer to her comeback fight.
The former UFC bantamweight champion actually made championship weight at Friday’s official weigh-ins for UFC Vegas 31, tipping the scales at 135 pounds on the dot. Tate’s opponent Marion Reneau successfully made weight (136), making Saturday’s co-main event official.
This was Tate’s first weigh-in since November 2016. She retired following a loss to Raquel Pennington at UFC 205, then went on to work in an executive role for ONE Championship in 2018. This past March, she announced she would be returning to compete in the UFC.
Lightweight headliners Islam Makhachev (155.5) and Thiago Moises (156) also successfully made weight. Makhachev, currently No. 7 in MMA Fighting’s Global Rankings, seeks an eighth consecutive victory.
All 22 fighters competing on Saturday’s card successfully made weight.
