UFC 264 in Tweets: Pros react to Dustin Poirier’s win, Conor McGregor’s broken leg in trilogy

MMA: UFC 264-McGregor vs Poirier Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Dustin Poirier appeared to be well on his way to a first-round TKO win via ground and pound in his UFC 264 trilogy with Conor McGregor. Then in the final seconds of round one, something crazy happened.

A trade of punches left McGregor with what looked like a broken ankle, and the cageside doctor called off the bout, denying the rivals a more definitive closure after a trio of bouts.

Officially, Poirier has won the trilogy 2-1. That didn’t stop McGregor from baying as he sat against the octagon, his injured limb wrapped in an air cast. Time will tell whether the ending leads to another go-around.

Here’s how fighters reacted to UFC 264’s main card.

Dustin Poirier def. Conor McGregor

Gilbert Burns def. Stephen Thompson

Tai Tuivasa def. Greg Hardy

Irene Aldana def. Yana Kunitskaya

Sean O’Malley def. Kris Moutinho
