Alan Patrick calls for rematch with Mason Jones after UFC Vegas 28 no contest ‘so that it will be fair for all of us’

After an unfortunate ending to their UFC Vegas 28 bout, Alan Patrick wants another shot at Mason Jones.

The lightweight matchup took place on the preliminary card where Jones was very close to putting away Patrick in the opening round before the horn sounded. The second round saw Jones continue his success prior to delivering an accidental eye poke. When the cage side physician asked if Patrick could see, he stated he could not which led to the fight being stopped and declared a no contest.

A few hours later, Patrick took to Instagram to respond to the result and call for a rematch with the former Cage Warriors two-division champion.

“Hey guys, I have a long history with the UFC and there are 18 fights in total and in all of them, I fought to the end,” Patrick said. “Accidents happen and unfortunately it happened to me. My vision was completely clouded and I was unable to continue. Now it’s time to rest and recover.

“I hope I can have the next fight with the same opponent so that it will be fair for all of us.”

The 37-year-old Patrick is now winless in his last three fights and will look to get back in the win column for the first time since a February 2018 decision win over Damir Hadzovic.

Jones has yet to earn a UFC victory in his two appearances, which included a highly entertaining split decision loss to Mike Davis in the Fight of the Night at January’s UFC Fight Island 8 event.
