Uriah Hall and Sean Strickland are moving up to main event status.

The upcoming middleweight showdown was originally scheduled for UFC 265 in August but now Hall and Strickland are expected to clash in the headline bout for the upcoming UFC Fight Night card on July 31 instead.

Sources close to the situation confirmed the move when speaking to MMA Fighting on Thursday. ESPN initially reported the change.

Coming off four victories in a row, Hall has been steadily climbing up the ranks at 185 pounds with the longest win streak of his UFC career. During that time, Hall has earned knockouts against Anderson Silva and Bevon Lewis with the only setback in his past six fights coming against former title contender Paulo Costa in 2018.

As for Strickland, he’s enjoyed a resurgence since returning to action after a devastating motorcycle accident nearly ended his career just under three years ago. Following a long absence from the sport, Strickland came back with a vengeance while picking up three wins in a row just in the past eight months.

Most recently, Strickland earned a unanimous decision over Krzysztof Jotko to move his overall record to 23-3 including a perfect 5-0 mark at middleweight in the promotion.

Hall vs. Strickland will be set as a five-round main event on July 31 with the card likely taking place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
