A new bantamweight matchup is set a fall UFC event.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a bout between Chris Gutierrez and Felipe Colares will take place on Oct. 9 at a location and venue yet to be officially announced. As of now, a headliner has yet to be revealed for the card.
After dropping his promotional debut at the TUF 28 Finale in November 2018, Gutierrez is unbeaten over his last five appearances. “El Guapo” has a TKO win over Vince Morales, along with decision victories over Ryan MacDonald, Geraldo de Freitas and Andre Ewell on his octagon resume.
Colares has flip-flopped wins and losses since signing with the UFC in 2019. The 27-year-old bounced back from a loss to Montel Jackson in his lone 2020 appearance with a unanimous decision victory over Luke Sanders in May at UFC Vegas 25. The Team Nogueira standout also has a UFC win over Domingo Pilarte.
