Marcin Prachnio only needed to survive Ike Villanueva’s hardest punches to turn the tables with a more diversified attack. With Villaneuva’s legs hobbled by kicks, he targeted the body and ended the fight in the second round of the UFC Vegas 30 prelim.
Prachnio switched stances and unleashed a body kick that dropped Villaneuva in place for the walkoff TKO just 59 seconds into the second frame of Saturday’s fight at UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
Check out the finish below.
Early on, it looked like Villaneuva’s best weapons might carry the day. He pounded on Prachnio with all manner of overhand rights, left hooks and uppercuts. At times, Prachnio looked badly out of position as he threw back with his head down. But he still managed to sneak in counters, the most significant of which where leg kicks that immediately produced an effect. By the end of the opening frame, Villaneuva had absorbed so many of them he was no longer moving forward. And the tide had turned.
Villaneuva tried again to bully his way into a finish. He just couldn’t react in time to the quick shot that came his way, sending him back to the drawing board after a knockout win over Vinicius Moreira in his previous outing. He is now 1-3 in the octagon after a pair of losses in his first two bouts.
Prachnio, meanwhile, has finished his past two opponents after a decision win over Khalil Rountree Jr.
