Michael Page predicts Tyron Woodley will ‘correct the world, sleep Jake Paul quickly’

Bellator welterweight contender Michael Page is expecting Tyron Woodley to end the latest surge in the combat sports world this summer.

Woodley, a former UFC welterweight champion, will face Jake Paul in a boxing match that’s expected to take place on Aug. 28 and will air on Showtime pay-per-view. It will be Woodley’s first combat sports matchup since parting ways with the UFC following his fourth straight loss in a fight against Vicente Luque at UFC 260 in March.

Paul has generated a lot of attention since entering the boxing world. The successful YouTuber is now 3-0 in his pro career, which includes KO wins over Ben Askren and former NBA guard Nate Robinson.

Well many feel like Paul will be getting a natural step up in competition, Page feels like it may be a bridge too far for the polarizing 24-year-old.

“Tyron Woodley—if all goes to plan—should just sleep Jake quickly,” Page told MMA Fighting on Friday prior to Bellator 260. “[Paul] will feel the difference between somebody that has been in the game a long time. that’s experienced in terms of striking, whereas the argument with Ben Askren before, somebody that had not just retired, he checked out a long time ago and his strength was never his standup anyway. I saw it going that way.”

Paul’s older brother Logan just competed in an exhibition bout against Floyd Mayweather and went the full eight rounds in an event that was expected to generate over 1 million pay-per-view buys, sources confirmed to MMA Fighting on Thursday.

“MVP” will certainly be rooting for his fellow MMA welterweight in the boxing match, not just to beat Paul, but to derail this new trend in the boxing world that has garnered so much of the world’s fascination.

“This fight is very different,” Page said. “I see Tyron Woodley going in there and correcting the world, because I feel like there’s a crazy shift right now with what’s going on. But Tyron Woodley is gonna be the guy to correct that.”
