After capturing the flyweight title at UFC 263, Brandon Moreno could face six months on the sidelines.
The Arizona Boxing & Mixed Martial Arts Commission issued three fighters with possible six-month suspensions following this past Saturday’s event at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Ariz.
Moreno submitted Deiveson Figueiredo in the third-round of the UFC 263 co-main event and became the first Mexican-born champion in company history. According to the list of medical suspensions acquired by mixedmartialarts.com, Moreno will have to get his right foot cleared by an orthopedic doctor or he’ll be forced to sit on the shelf for 180 days.
In addition, Jamahal Hill (dislocated elbow), following his first-round loss to Paul Craig, and Terrance McKinney (right knee), who picked up the fastest KO in lightweight history with his win over Matt Frevola and then injured himself during the celebration, could also see six-month suspensions.
Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya received a seven-day suspension following his successful title defense in the main event, while opponent Marvin Vettori got 30 days coming out of his decision loss in his first bid to become champion.
Nate Diaz received a 45-day suspension for multiple lacerations after dropping a unanimous decision to Leon Edwards in a five-round welterweight matchup. Edwards received a hard bout 30 day stint after emerging victorious on Saturday.
