The Brazilian light heavyweight duo was originally scheduled to headline a Fight Night show on Sept. 25, but the bout has been pushed back to Oct. 2, multiple people with knowledge of the change told MMA Fighting.
The switch comes after UFC’s recent change of plans for several events that month. The final Saturday of September will now hold the UFC 266 pay-per-view card, featuring Jan Blachowicz vs. Glover Teixeira for the 205-pound championship. Santos-Walker is expected to take place at UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
Walker (18-5) is coming off of a first-round knockout over Ryan Spann in September 2020, bouncing back from setbacks to Corey Anderson and Nikita Krylov, while Santos (21-9) looks for his first octagon win since February 2019 after dropping three in a row to Jon Jones, Teixeira, and Aleksandar Rakic.
