Curtis Blaydes and Jairzinho Rozenstruk have agreed to a fight with the heavyweights currently targeted to clash at the upcoming UFC 266 card on Sept. 25.
Multiple sources confirmed the matchup to MMA Fighting on Tuesday with verbal agreements in place, although no contracts have been signed at this time. UFC 266 is scheduled for Sept. 25 with a pair of title fights at the top of the card with light heavyweight king Jan Blachowicz facing off with Glover Teixeira while featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski expected to meet Brian Ortega in the co-main event.
A constant threat in the heavyweight division, Blaydes will look to bounce back after suffering a knockout loss to Derrick Lewis in his last outing. Prior to that setback, Blaydes had rattled off four consecutive wins including victories over Alexander Volkov and former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos.
Meanwhile, Rozenstruik is fresh off a first-round knockout against Brazilian fighter Augusto Sakai in his latest appearance in the octagon. Rozenstruik is currently 12-2 in his career overall with his only losses coming to rising star Ciryl Gane and reigning UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.
Assuming Blaydes vs. Rozenstruik is finalized, the heavyweights would join a growing pay-per-view card in September with a date and location for the event still to be determined.
