UFC Vegas 26 live blog: Marina Rodriguez vs. Michelle Waterson

This is the UFC Vegas 26 live blog for Marina Rodriguez vs. Michelle Waterson, the flyweight headliner for Saturday’s fight card at UFC APEX in Las Vegas.

The flyweight fight was promoted to main event status after a bantamweight fight between ex-champ T.J. Dillashaw and Cory Sandhagen was postponed due to an injury to Dillashaw. Rodriguez and Waterson usually compete at strawweight, but the bout was changed to a flyweight contest due to the short-notice booking.

Rodriguez is four months removed from one of the biggest wins of her octagon career, a TKO stoppage of rising star Amanda Ribas at UFC 257. The result put her back in the win column after a decision loss to inaugural strawweight champ Carla Esparza and left her overall record at 3-1-2, with draws against Randa Markos and Cynthia Calvillo.

Waterson returns after a split decision win over Angela Hill this past September at UFC Vegas 10. The result also put her back on solid ground after back-to-back losses in bouts against Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Esparza.
