The fight was initially reported by MMA Fighting back in April with BKFC making the fight official with an announcement Thursday.
VanZant and Ostovich previously met while competing in the UFC in January 2019. On that night, VanZant earned a second-round armbar submission victory, but this time she’ll be throwing hands with Ostovich in a bare-knuckle brawl.
VanZant makes her second appearance in the bare-knuckle arena after she debuted earlier this year and ultimately lost a unanimous decision to Britain Hart. The former UFC star struggled in the early going against the more experienced Hart, but had her best performance in the final round as she got more comfortable within her new sport.
Now VanZant seeks her first win under the BKFC banner after she inked a multi-fight contract with the promotion last year following the end of her run with the UFC.
As for Ostovich, the former Ultimate Fighter competitor will be starting her new career with the BKFC after signing with the promotion back in April. Ostovich joined the roster after she was released from the UFC following a 1-3 run in the octagon.
VanZant vs. Ostovich is expected to be part of a bigger card that the BKFC is putting together for July 23, with more fights being added in the coming weeks. As of now, BKFC 19 does not have a location, but it’s expected that fans will be in attendance for the show.
