UFC Vegas 27 live blog: Yan Xiaonan vs. Carla Esparza

This is the UFC Vegas 27 live blog for Yan Xiaonan vs. Carla Esparza, the strawweight co-main event for Saturday’s fight card at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas.

The fight could determine the next woman in line for a title shot in the UFC strawweight division. Champion Rose Namajunas needs an opponent for her next title defense after winning the title back at UFC 261.

Yan (13-1, 1 NC) is fighting for the first time this year after reeling off six straight victories to begin her UFC tenure. She has gone to a decision all six times, including a unanimous decision win over Claudia Gadelha at UFC Vegas 13 this past November.

Esparza (17-6) has reeled off four straight wins, all by decision as well. She defeated Marina Rodriguez via split decision at UFC Fight Island 3 this past July in her most recent trip to the Octagon.
