Cheyanne Buys vs. Gloria de Paula set for July 31 UFC event

Cheyanne Buys and Gloria de Paula have agreed to meet inside the UFC octagon on July 31, multiple people with knowledge of the booking told MMA Fighting.

The UFC has yet to officially announce the location of the card, but it will likely take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas. The headlining attraction for the Fight Night event hasn’t been announced yet.

Both strawweights earned a deal with the promotion through Dana White’s Contender Series but lost their debuts this past March.

Buys (5-2), who won a decision over Hilarie Rose at DWCS in August 2020, dropped an unanimous decision to Montserrat Ruiz seven months later. Buys was on a four-fight winning streak when she made her UFC debut.

De Paula (5-3) also won a decision at Dana White’s scouting program, defeating Pauline Macias after three rounds, but came up short against former Invicta FC atomweight champion Jinh Yu Frey.
