Chookagian is on the upswing after her most recent appearance, a UFC 255 meeting with Cynthia Calvillo that ended in a decision win. Since a lopsided loss to champ Valentina Shevchenko, she’s struggled to stay consistent (and faced questions about her career longevity after admitting a desire to start a family), winning two bouts and losing one via first-round knockout against Jessica Andrade.
Araujo comes into the fight on a two-fight winning streak, though her resume of opposition isn’t as strong as her opponent. In her most recent showing, she outpointed veteran Roxanne Modaferri after a decision win over Montana De La Rosa. As the No. 7 ranked flyweight, she stands to make a big jump with a win over No. 2 Chookagian.
