Cejudo, 34, also announced that he is having a daughter and that they already have a name picked out for her: America. The patriotic name is a fitting one for the Los Angeles-born Cejudo, who represented the United States at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where he became the youngest ever to win a gold medal in freestyle wrestling (a record later broken by Kyle Snyder).
The baby is expected to arrive in November. Cejudo added that he had already proposed to his girlfriend, joking that “I’m bending the knee.”
A UFC champion at 125 and 135 pounds, Cejudo retired from MMA competition after a win over Dominick Cruz at UFC 249 in May of last year. He told Tyson and guest Mario Lopez that the timing is right for him to start a family.
“I feel like I’ve done it right,” Cejudo said. “Thirty-four, I’ve made some money. Not the money that I necessarily want, but I have enough money to be like, alright, start to invest and start that next chapter.”
