The bout pairs the No. 14 featherweight in Chikadze against No. 15 ranked Swanson in another matchup of up-and-comer versus seasoned vet. While Chikadze is technically no newcomer, having won five straight octagon bouts, he has yet to face the kind of ranked and marquee opposition that might put him on the road to a title shot. Swanson, meanwhile, has been close to the top of the mountain and now finds himself in the position of gatekeeper, having beaten back returning vet Daniel Pineda and Kron Gracie in his previous two appearances.
Swanson’s most recent win in his bout against Pineda came after a one-year layoff due to a knee injury suffered in a grappling loss to Jake Shields.
