A middleweight bout between Kyle Daukaus and Aliaskhab Khizriev has been pulled from this weekend’s UFC Vegas 23 card.
UFC officials confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Wednesday with the fight being pulled due to COVID-19 protocols.
The bout is expected to be rescheduled for a later date.
After suffering a loss in his octagon debut, Daukaus bounced back with a win over Dustin Stoltzfus in his second appearance in the UFC this past November. He was looking to build on that momentum with his fight on Saturday but now it appears he’ll have to wait until a later date to compete again.
Meanwhile, Khizriev was to make his UFC debut after putting together an impressive 13-0 record to start his career. Khizriev holds a number of impressive wins on his resume, none bigger than a lightning quick 58-second KO of UFC veteran Rousimar Palhares back in 2018.
UFC officials haven’t confirmed which fight will be moving to the main card to replace Daukaus vs. Khizriev. The UFC Vegas 23 card was already deep and 14 fights remain after the loss of this middleweight matchup.
