The UFC’s July slate has added a welterweight matchup between two fighters looking to get back in the win column.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a fight between Mickey Gall and Jordan Williams is set for the UFC’s event on July 24 at a venue and location yet to be determined.
Gall has flip-flopped wins and losses over his last six fights, beginning with a second-round submission win over Sage Northcutt at UFC on FOX 22. The New Jersey native dropped his first pro fight to Randy Brown at UFC 217 before bouncing back with a first-round submission win over George Sullivan at UFC Lincoln in August 2018. Since then, the 28-year-old has suffered losses to Diego Sanchez and Mike Perry, while earning a hard fought decision win over Salim Touahri at UFC Newark in between.
After earning a UFC contract in his third attempt on Dana White’s Contender Series, Williams made his octagon debut less than a month later and dropped a unanimous decision to Nassourdine Imavov at October’s UFC Fight Island 4 event. “Bomaye” returns to the welterweight division for the first time since April 2016 where he suffered a first-round KO loss to Dwight Grant on the regional scene.
