While a trilogy fight is no more, a fascinating rematch now headlines Wednesday’s ONE Championship event for the light heavyweight title.
Promotional officials confirmed to MMA Fighting that Vitaly Bigdash is out of the ONE on TNT 4 main event against champion Aung La N Sang due to COVID-19 protocols. With Bigdash’s scratch, Aung La N Sang now defends his title against middleweight titleholder Reinier de Ridder—who captured the title with a first-round submission win over N Sang in October. ESPN was first to report the change.
The loss to de Ridder snapped N Sang’s seven-fight winning streak. The 30-year-old de Ridder has won all 13 of his professional bouts, including a 4-0 start to his ONE Championship tenure as he attempts to become a two-division champion.
N Sang is a two-time light heavyweight champion for the promotion, having lost the title to Bigdash in January 2017 before regaining the belt in a rematch six months later.
