The lightweight headliners of Friday’s PFL 2021 season premiere successfully made weight at Thursday’s official weigh-ins, with Pettis coming in at 156 pounds and Collard at 154.6 pounds. Their bout serves as the main event of a card that will kick off the regular season for the league’s lightweight and featherweight divisions.
All but one of the 20 fighters scheduled to compete on Friday made the mark. The lone miss was lightweight Mikhail Odintsov, who weighed in 0.4 pounds over the limit. As a result of his miss, Odintsov forfeits 20 percent of his purse to opponent Akhmed Aliev and he has been penalized one point in the PFL regular season standings. That puts Odintsov in negative point territory before the season has even officially begun.
Odintsov is also ineligible to earn points in this upcoming fight regardless of the outcome. Aliev received an automatic three points and can receive additional points with a finish.
PFL 1 airs Friday night starting at 5:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+. The main card airs on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes beginning at 9 p.m. ET.
