Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Augusto Sakai will collide in the main event of the UFC Fight Night show on June 5, multiple people with knowledge of the booking told MMA Fighting following a report from Combate.
Sakai was originally scheduled to face Shamil Abdurakhimov on May 1, but that matchup has been cancelled due to undisclosed reasons, per sources. The UFC has yet to announce a venue and location for the Fight Night event in June.
Rozenstruik (11-2) will re-enter the octagon less than four months after a five-round decision loss to Ciryl Gane in February. The 33-year-old heavyweight was coming off a second-round knockout win over former champion Junior dos Santos prior to the upset loss.
Sakai (15-2-1) joined the UFC through Dana White’s Contender Series and won four in a row over Chase Sherman, Andrei Arlovski, Marcin Tybura and Blagoy Ivanov before losing to longtime heavyweight veteran Alistair Overeem in his most recent octagon appearance.
