On this week’s episode of What the Heck, MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck speaks with commentator Ray Flores (5:15), who was part of the broadcast team for this past Saturday’s Triller Fight Club event in Atlanta. Flores discussed the experience being on the call, Jake Paul’s surge in the combat sports world, Paul’s first-round TKO win over Ben Askren, claims from fans that Askren took a dive, why he’s interested in seeing Paul fight Dillon Danis next, Frank Mir’s pro boxing debut, and Oscar De La Hoya’s commentary.

UFC flyweight Lauren Murphy (33:50) previews her UFC 263 matchup with Joanne Calderwood and talks how the matchup came together, feeling Calderwood is underrated, the upcoming title fight between Valentina Shevchenko and Jessica Andrade at UFC 261, why she believes Jorge Masvidal might have the best chance to become a new champion on Saturday, being impressed with up and comers Viviane Araujo and Taila Santos, and not focusing primarily on a title shot.

Finally, Gordon Ryan (1:07:14) discusses how signing with ONE Championship came together, when he expects to make the transition to mixed martial arts, as well as his ONE debut, thoughts on Marcus Buchecha preparing for his MMA debut, Mackenzie Dern’s rise up the UFC women’s strawweight division, and his take on what happened in the viral video where he slapped Andre Galvao.
