Douglas Lima vs. Yaroslav Amosov welterweight title fight set for Bellator 260

Bellator MMA

Bellator welterweight champion Douglas Lima’s next matchup will take place against an undefeated challenger.

Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that Lima is set to defend his welterweight title against Yaroslav Amosov at Bellator 260. The event takes place June 11 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., and will air on Showtime. Yahoo! Sports was first to report the booking.

Lima returns to 170 after falling short in his bid to become a two-division champion. “The Phenom” moved up to a weight class to face Gegard Mousasi for the vacant Bellator middleweight title and dropped a unanimous decision at Bellator 250 this past October. It will be Lima’s first title defense of his current reign after defeating Rory MacDonald at Bellator 232 to win the promotion’s welterweight grand prix and recapture the belt.

Amosov enters his first promotional title fight with a perfect 25-0 record, six bouts of which have taken place in the Bellator cage. “Dynamo” delivered wins over Ed Ruth, Gerald Harris, David Rickels and, most recently, Logan Storley to earn his championship opportunity.
