Bellator 255 weigh-in results: Patricio Pitbull, Emmanuel Sanchez on point for featherweight title bout, one other fight cancelled

New, 1 comment

The Bellator 255 main event is a go.

Headliners Patricio Pitbull and Emmanuel Sanchez both successfully made championship weight for Friday’s headliner, which also serves as the semi-finals of the Bellator World Featherweight Grand Prix and a rematch of their Bellator 209 in which Pitbull defended his title with a unanimous decision win over Sanchez.

Whoever wins the Bellator 255 main event becomes the new champion and goes on to face the unbeaten A.J. McKee in the tournament finals. The tournament winner earns a $1,000,000 prize.

Co-main event welterweights Neiman Gracie and Jason Jackson also successfully made weight, as did the debuting Usman Nurmagomedov, who enters Friday’s card with an unblemished 11-0 record and former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in his corner.

Three fighters failed to make weight at Friday’s official weigh-ins: Welterweights Mukhamed Berkhamov and Roman Faraldo, and middleweight Fabio Aguiar.

According to a Bellator press release, Berkhamov’s bout opposite Herman Terrado has been cancelled.

Faraldo and Aguiar’s respective bouts will proceed as catchweights. Purse penalties were not disclosed.
