Miocic entered this grudge match with Cormier as the reigning heavyweight champion having reclaimed the belt from Cormier at UFC 241. Their previous two meetings ended in definitive fashion, with Cormier winning by TKO in round one at UFC 226 and Miocic returning the favor with a fourth-round TKO in the rematch.
This time, it took all five rounds to settle the score and when the dust cleared, Miocic remained the king of the mountain, while Cormier was finally able to move one from his fighting career having had the opportunity to go out on top.
