The first UFC card of May has suffered some changes.
Randa Markos vs. Luana Pinheiro has been moved to the show after Markos tested positive for COVID-19, forcing her out of this weekend’s event in Las Vegas. Sources confirmed the change to MMA Fighting after Markos made the announcement on social media.
Poliana Botelho, who was booked against Ji Yeon Kim on May 1, will now take on fellow Brazilian flyweight Mayra Bueno Silva after Kim pulled out due to undisclosed reasons. Multiple people with knowledge of the switch confirmed to MMA Fighting following a report from Ag. Fight.
Markos (10-10-1) is looking for redemption after losing three in a row inside the octagon against Amanda Ribas, Mackenzie Dern and Kanako Murata. Pinheiro (8-1), on the other hand, makes her promotional debut following a first-round knockout over Stephanie Frausto at Dana White’s Contender Series in November 2020.
Botelho (8-3) suffered her first defeat as a 125-pounder this past October, dropping a decision to Gillian Robertson just six months after defeating Lauren Mueller. “Sheetara” Silva (7-1-1) was fresh off a first-round armbar over Mara Romero Borella when she fought to a majority draw with Montana De La Rosa earlier this year.
