RIZIN returned with a card filled of stoppages in Nagoya, Japan, on Sunday.
The RIZIN 27 main event, in fact, was one of the few fights to go the distance, with super atomweight queen Ayaka Hamasaki defending her throne in a rematch against Kanna Asakura.
The 38-year-old veteran, who first became champion by submitting Asakura back in 2018, had to dig deeper this time, winning a close split decision after a hard-fought contest.
Eight of the other nine MMA bouts of the card ended inside the distance, including teammates Roberto Satoshi and Kleber Koike tapping their opponents in similar fashion.
Satoshi and Koike were both taken down by their opponents Kazuki Tokudome and Kazumasa Majima, but then used triangle chokes to force the tap. Satoshi won in the opening round, while Koike’s finish came in midway through the second stanza, with the Brazilian shouting “I will catch it” as soon as the triangle was locked on.

The card also featured wins that entered the RIZIN record books. Sumo wrestler-turned-MMA fighter Tsuyoshi Sudario took on former pro wrestler Kazushi Miyamoto (0-0 in MMA) in a heavyweight contest, and won in a matter of seconds.
Miyamoto rushed forward as soon as the bell rang and got knocked down immediately. He managed to get up just to eat a monster right hand to the face that put him out. Sudario continued to land punches as the referee attempted to stopped the fight, connecting a few with late strikes on the ground and causing chaos to ensue inside the ring.
Records being broken left and right!
