UFC Vegas 20 medical suspensions: Three fighters potentially sidelined until August

UFC Vegas 20 was light on fights, finishes, and—perhaps not coincidentally—also light on significant injuries.

Three fighters who competed on Saturday’s preliminary card at UFC APEX in Las Vegas are facing potential six-month suspensions, lightweight Thiago Moises and bantamweights Sabina Mazo and Ronnie Lawrence, according to a list of suspensions from mixedmartialarts.com.

UFC Vegas 20 was overseen by the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Moises defeated Alexander Hernandez by unanimous decision in the evening’s featured prelim, but requires an X-ray on his right foot following the contest. If positive, he requires clearance from an orthopedic doctor to avoid being suspended until August 27.

Mazo (left leg) and Lawrence (left foot and left ribs) also require X-rays and further clearance to avoid a similar suspension. Lawrence was the lone fighter who competed on Saturday to record a finish. He defeated Vince Cachero by third-round TKO.

Heavyweight headliners Ciryl Gane and Jairzinho Rozenstruik made it out of the main event with minimal damage after five uneventful rounds of action, with only Rozenstruik receiving a mandatory three-week medical suspension.

UFC Vegas 20 proceeded with just nine fights after several bouts were cancelled in the week leading up to the card.

Jimmie Rivera: Suspended until April 29, no contact until April 29 (facial laceration); requires MRI and clearance from neurologist

Kevin Croom: Suspended until April 14, no contact until March 30

Thiago Moises: Must receive clearance from orthopedic doctor on positive result from X-ray on right foot or no contest until Aug. 27; minimum suspension no contest until March 30, no contact until March 21

Alexander Hernandez: Suspended until March 30, no contact until March 21

Sabina Mazo: Must receive clearance from orthopedic doctor on positive result from X-ray on left leg or no contest until Aug. 27; minimum suspension no contest until March 30, no contact until March 21

Ronnie Lawrence: Must receive clearance from orthopedic doctor on positive result from X-ray on left foot and left ribs or no contest until Aug. 27; minimum suspension no contest until March 30, no contact until March 21

Vincent Cachero: Suspended until April 14, no contact until March 30

Dustin Jacoby: Suspended until March 30, no contact until March 21

Maxim Grishin: Suspended until March 30, no contact until March 21
