Dan Ige more than lived up to his “$50k” nickname by almost guaranteeing himself a bonus at UFC Vegas 21.

At just 22 seconds into the opening round, Ige unleashed a perfectly timed right hand down the middle that blasted Gavin Tucker and sent him crashing down to the canvas. Ige was able to just turn and walk away because the fight was over as soon as Tucker hit the ground.

Afterwards, Ige said he actually didn’t remember the shot that ended the fight but he had a chance to admire his handiwork from the replay.

“I gotta see the highlight. I don’t even know what happened. I blacked out,” Ige said in his post-fight interview. “Boom goes the dynamite. $50k. I’m so happy to be here. A first round KO’s nice. Can’t beat that.”

With his wife pregnant at home with their first child, Ige was obviously fighting for more than just himself on Saturday night but he also wasn’t getting paid by the hour.

There was no warming up because as soon as Tucker stepped into range, Ige unloaded the right hand that mashed the Canadian’s face and put him down immediately.

It was a huge finish and an important win for Ige as he also bounces back from a hard-fought loss in his last fight against Calvin Kattar in 2020.

Following the stunning knockout win, Ige already had a name in mind for his next opponent as he turned his attention to perennial bonus winner “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung.

“I would like to face the ‘Zombie,’” Ige said. “I’ve been trying to fight this guy forever. Please man, give me the ‘Zombie.’”
