With Kay Hansen out, Cheyanne Buys now meets fellow newcomer Montserrat Ruiz at UFC Vegas 22

Cheyanne Buys and her husband will both still make their UFC debuts on the same card, but the former will have a new dance partner.

Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that Buys will now face fellow promotional newcomer Montserrat Ruiz at UFC Vegas 22. The event takes place at the UFC APEX and will be headlined by a middleweight bout between Derek Brunson and Kevin Holland. Buys also confirmed the booking on Friday via Instagram.

Ruiz replaces Kay Hansen who was forced to withdraw due to undisclosed reasons. A source close to Hansen told MMA Fighting that the hope is to reschedule the matchup with Buys in the future.

Buys will make her promotional debut after earning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series in August. “The Warrior Princess” earned an impressive unanimous decision win over Hilarie Rose and left a lasting impression on UFC president Dana White. Her husband JP Buys—who also earned a contract on the Contender Series this past season—will make his UFC debut at the event against Bruno Silva.

Ruiz looks to build upon her recent appearance in July, bouncing back from her lone professional loss when she defeated Janaisa Morandin with a keylock submission in the first round at Invicta FC 41.
